Day 10

Still seeing RED from all the beautiful red rocks and mountains in Arizona!  We awoke and hit the road in a rented Sequoia traveling to Sedona.  We originally planned on checking out Sliding Rock but it was closed.  So, we hiked a neat trail along a scenic vista and then down into a refreshing creek.  Man, it was really hot and dry today - 99 degrees!  So, the kids had fun playing in the water and catching critters.  We then went into town and had lunch with wonderful views and did some window shopping.  We headed back to the RV to recooperate and rehydrate before hitting the trails for an afternoon horseback ride.  We had a great tour guide who led us through the forest for almost 2 hours where we spotted a herd of elk!  The boys did really well on their horses.  I was surprised Bode could handle his horse so well.  It was a beautiful evening with a nice breeze and much cooler temperatures.  Bode was thrilled and said, "I am glad it's not hot because I think I am allergic to hotness."  So, tomorrow, the Grand Canyon!!  Can you believe I am almost 40 and have never seen it?  Untiil then...

  1. John,
We searched dilligently for a deer, but to no avail. Maybe next time. Thanks for reminding Norm of this most important ritual that we can continue down the family line.

  2. By the way, I did perform a nice bounce pass in the RV. Not as easy as with the Altima, but far more intimadating when the bus is coming at you head on. No sign of the big man, but I did see Ben Vereen. Norm
