Day 8

Turned out to be a great day in Albuquerque, NM!  We started our day renting a car and driving a few miles to the Pertroglyph National Monument.  We took a 30 minute hike to the top of the Mesa trail in which we viewed pertroglyphs (carvings on rocks done by primitive people dating back as early as 200 AD).  We saw a road runner and some lizards as well.  Norm got a souvenir of a Kokopelli, the mystical flute player, which is the most well-known petroglyph.  We then went to Sadie's for a huge Mexican lunch!  The boys mealed on taquitos, quesadillas, and sopapillas - finally embracing the culture!  We ventured onward to take the world's longest tramway to the top of Sandia Peak.  We started at 6659 feet and rose to an elevation of 10,378 feet!  What a beautiful site and the rocks were outrageous!  The view was an 11,000 square mile panoramic view.  Unfortunately I got altitude sickness and felt as if I was going to hurl the whole time.  But I did pose for one picture pretending to be fine, as you can see above.  Chase and Bode spent most of their time at the top searching for fossils.  They fossils were everywhere embedded in the rocks - they thought they had reached a gold-mine!  Norm kept getting eerily close to the sides of the peak making my sickness worse - I think he thought it was funny to see me squirm. Hmmm...  We came back to the RV after a long, but fun day exhausted.  I have since recovered and we are looking forward to checking out Old Historic Downtown this evening after some pool time!  Tomorrow we pull out of New Mexico and head for the next state!  Until then...
